Jay-Z puts a new twist on the mugshot backdrop.
In 2014, Jay-Z and Beyoncé made headlines with the choice to display Justin Bieber and Lil Kim’s recognizable mug shots during the first iteration of their On The Run tour, with Beyonce allegedly telling audiences, “even the greatest can fall.”
This year, Jay-Z looks to be making a tradition out of the design scheme as he’s displayed number of mug shots featuring other notable faces during his set on his and Beyoncé’s On The Run II Tour.
As evidenced in the photo above, Jay makes use of clippings from Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Meek Mill, and even Kimora Lee Simmons to make his point. One screen also featured a collage of 50 Cent’s mug shot while another featured Jay-Z’s own mug shot. Nicki Minaj’s own likeness was used during a tour stop and Nick gushed over what seems to be an honor on Instagram, writing “When Jay asks for your mug shot for his tour backdrop.”
The worldwide joint tour kicked off this week on the 6th in Cardiff, Wales and moved over to Glasgow, Scotland Saturday night. Next, fans in England will get to experience the Carters first-hand during a Manchester stop on the 13th and back-to back dates in London on June 15th and June 16th. The European leg of the OTR II tour is set to continue through major cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona, Milan, and Paris before ending in Nice, France on July 17th. The second leg will pick back up in Cleveland on July 25th.
